TV Series
    (November 2, 1998-January 28, 2004)
    Aired on CBS
Ted Danson as Dr. John Becker
    Hattie Winston as Margaret Wyborn
    Shawnee Smith as Linda
    Alex Desert as Jake Malinak
Terry Farrell as Reggie Kostas (seasons 1-4)
Nancy Travis as Chris Connor (seasons 4-6)
Saverio Guerra as Bob (seasons 1-5)
Jorge Garcia as Hector Lopez (season 6)
Premise: A cantankerous doctor operates a small practice in the Bronx
Danson had to dye his hair brown for the role.
Becker frequently complained that God was punishing him for being an atheist.
Reggie's unexpected disappearance after season 4 prompted speculation that Farrell had been fired for joining a cast protest over pay raises that the producers had promised but not implemented.
It did well in the ratings its first four seasons when it had Everybody Loves Raymond as a lead-in, but then CBS moved it to be the lead-off show on Sunday, and the ratings plummeted.
Despite his curmudgeonly tendencies, Becker was willing to go the extra mile to help patients in need.
Danson's Cheers castmates Kelsey Grammer, George Wnendt, and Rhea Pearlman made cameo appearances.
Also making a guest appearance: Danson's wife Mary Steenburgen, as a character who so thoroughly irritates Becker that he snipes that he pities whoever she ends up marrying.
