Football Player

The Resume

    (September 7, 1951- )
    Born in Ruston, Louisiana
Birth name is Bertram Hays Jones
Quarterback for the Baltimore/Indianapolis Colts and the Los Angeles Rams
Drafted second overall in the First Round of the 1973 NFL Draft
    Attended Louisiana State University (LSU)

Why he might be annoying:

He did ads for Ivory Soap and Miller Lite.
Many believe that a clock malfunction on the previous play gave him four seconds to complete the game-winning touchdown pass in the 1972 LSU vs. Ole Miss game.
His debut came with a loss to the Cleveland Browns (September 16, 1973).
His career post-1977 was curtailed by several injuries.
He made NFL history when he was sacked a record 12 times (October 26, 1980).
In his final season, he played in only four games for the Rams before a neck injury forced him to retire.

Why he might not be annoying:

He was the first quarterback in LSU history to be awarded consensus All-America honors.
He finished fourth in the vote for the Heisman Trophy (1972).
He was chosen in the first round of the 1973 draft only eight days after the Baltimore Colts traded Johnny Unitas to San Diego.
He was named NFL's Most Valuable Player during his 1976 season with the Colts.
He got several offers to coach professionally, but preferred to stay in Louisiana to spend time with his family (he ran a successful local lumber company).
John Elway surpassed his NFL sack record.
It is almost universally agreed upon among fans that under different circumstances he could have been one of the all-time greats.
Bill Belichick called him 'the best pure passer' he had ever seen.
