The Resume

    (May 17, 1911-February 4, 1992)
    Born in Uddevalla, Sweden
Birth name was Lisa Birgitta Bernstone
Frequent cover girl for 'Vogue,' 'Harper's Bazaar' and 'Vanity Fair'
    Measurements: 34-23-34
Married to photographers Ferdinand Fonssagrives (1935-50) and Irving Penn (1950-92)

Why she might be annoying:

She originally planned to be a ballet dancer, but was considered too tall.
Her waist was normally 23 inches, but she could cinch it down to 17.
She kept her figure by eating ten small meals a day, where a typical 'meal' would be six grapes, a cracker, a piece of cheese and half a glass of wine.
Her angular features inspired the appearance of Cruella de Vil in Disney's animated '101 Dalmatians.'

Why she might not be annoying:

She has been credited as the first supermodel.
She appeared on the cover of over 200 issues of 'Vogue.'
One photographer said, 'Lisa makes a $10 cotton dress look like a Schiaparelli.'
She was fond of nude swimming and sunbathing.
After her modeling career ended, she designed a line of leisurewear for Lord & Taylor, and became a sculptor who exhibited at Manhattan's prestigious Marlborough Gallery.
