The Resume

    (November 15, 1784-June 24, 1860)
    Born in Ajaccio, Corsica, France
    Youngest sibling of Napoleon Bonaparte
    King of Westphalia (1807-13)
    Prince of Montfort (1816-60)
    Marshal of France (1850-60)

Why he might be annoying:

He had to leave Napoleon’s guard and join the Navy after he was wounded in a duel (1800).
He abandoned his American-born wife and their son to marry into German royalty.
He named both of his first two sons Jerome (perhaps figuring that the first Jerome didn’t really count, since Napoleon had declared his marriage to the kid’s mother annulled).
He fathered at least one child out of wedlock.
He spent extravagantly as King of Westphalia, draining the national treasury.
Napoleon wrote a letter to him complaining, ‘I know no one so base, so stupid, so cowardly. You are destitute of virtue, talent and resources.’

Why he might not be annoying:

He was four months old when his father died.
As King of Westphalia, he granted Jews the same rights as Christians.
When Napoleon chided him over a frivolous purchase, he offered the excuse, ‘I just love beautiful things.’
