    Wife of President Benjamin Harrison (October 20, 1853)
    Published a cookbook 'Statesmen's Dishes and How to Cook Them' (1890)
    First President General of the Daughters of the American Revolution
    Christened the battleship U.S.S. Philadelphia (1892)

Why she might be annoying:

    She suffered with depression.
    She accused her husband President Benjamin Harrison of having romantic feelings for his niece.
    She accepted a bribe from Postmaster General John Wannamaker of a Cape May (NJ) cottage. When the public became furious about it President Benjamin Harrison paid Wannamaker $10,000 for the cottage.
    She is the second First Lady to die in the White House.
    She was afraid to switch on and off the electric lights and had a servant do it.

    Her father was a college professor who made sure she got a good education.
    Her father was accused of housing runaway slaves.
    She went to dances despite her church's ban on dancing.

    Despite being a college graduate she excelled at household duties.
    Almost every evening she would make dough and roll it in the morning.
    She was famed for making sausage rolls.
    She cleaned up the White House, adding kitchen appliances and new wallpaper.
    She had chronic respiratory problems which turned into TB.
    She had a good sense of humor.
    She was sensitive but didn't hold grudges.
    She did charity work for the Indianapolis Orphanage.
    She jested 'It’s either to the White House with us or the poor house.'
    She hosted a reception for Johns Hopkins Hospital under the condition they would accept females.
    She began the tradition of a Christmas tree at the White House (1889).
