Why Connecticut might be annoying:

    500 Native Americans were killed at the Battle of Pequot at Mystic (May 26, 1537).
    Early Connecticut was known for strict Puritan morals, including flogging children who cursed at their parents.
    Although only three years old, the roof of The Civic Center in Hartford collapsed (January 18, 1978).
    It took a royal charter by King Charles II to unite New Haven and the Connecticut colonies (1662).
    Connecticut was involved in boundary disputes with Massachusetts, Rhode Island and New York. At one time, Connecticut signed the Great Charter, claiming Connecticut stretched from the Atlantic to Pacific Ocean. After all was said and done, they are the third smallest state.

    'Fundamental Orders of Connecticut' declared citizens may practice any religion as a way to deal with strict Puritans (1639).
    The first American amusement park was built in Bristol.
    The NFL New York Giants played a season in New Haven, CT (1973-74).

    TV shows 'Who's the Boss,' 'Soap,' 'The Lucy Show' an 'The New Loretta Young Show' were set in Connecticut.
    The annual Lobster Festival is held in Mystic every May 26th.
    It is the home of the Ivy League college Yale (October 9, 1701).
    Knights of Columbus formed in New Haven (1882).
    P T Barnum, Harriet Beecher Stowe, Samuel Colt, Ethan Allen, Charles Lewis Tiffany, Al Capp, Ralph Nader and Kevin Nealon were born in Connecticut.
    Musicians Karen Carpenter and Michael Bolton were born in Connecticut.
    Actors Ernest Borgnine, Ted Knight, Bob Crane, John Ratzenberger and Ron Palillo were born in Connecticut.
    Actresses Katharine Hepburn, Hope Lange, Glenn Close, Meg Foster, Shelley Hack, Pamela Sue Martin, Melanie Chartoff, Heather Thomas, Meg Ryan, Amy Brenneman and Kari Wuhrer were born in Connecticut.
    Athletes Donna Elizabeth De Varona, Dorothy Hamill, Bob Ctvrtlik and Rob Dibble were born in Connecticut.
    The first state to elect a female governor, not related to a previous governor (Ella Grasso, November 5, 1974).
    The first helicopter flight, nylon parachute jump and atomic submarine launched from Connecticut.
    The first permanent automobile license plates were issued in Ct. (March 1, 1937).
    Home of the first American school for the deaf (April 15, 1817).
    The first UHF television station operated on a regular basis (December 29, 1949).
    New Milford is the first to use automatic street lights (March 2, 1949).
    I was the first state to legalize same sex civil unions (2005).
    It abolished capital punishment (April 25, 2012).
