She survived a horrific accident only to succumb to cancer almost two decades later.
A graphic public service announcement had her holding a picture of herself before the accident then revealing her disfigured face afterwards.

She was an only child.
She studied engineering, hoping to take over her father's air conditioning business.
The car she was trapped in caught fire.
Two friends died in the same accident.
She had third degree burns all over her body and lost her nose, lips, ears, one eyelid and hair.
Over the years, she had 120 reconstructive surgeries, including a cornea transplant to restore some of her vision.
Stephy's mother appeared on the same 'Oprah' episode Saburido appeared in to offer support; Saburido hugged her.
She has forgiven Stephy, who was charged with two counts of manslaughter.
Winfrey named her as one of her favorite guests.
