Why Kansas City Scouts might be annoying:

They were largely underfunded during their brief stay in Kansas City.
They have the distinction of having the shortest stay in their original city amongst the NHL's expansion teams.
They originally wanted to call themselves the Mohawks, but were unable to as a result of objections from the Chicago Black Hawks.
    They went on a 16-game winless streak (December 30, 1975-February 4, 1976).
They capped off their final season in Kansas City by going on a 21-game losing streak.
They went through three head coaches in a two-year span.
Their lack of success, along with that of the Washington Capitals eight seasons, led hockey pundits to call the 1974 expansion unsuccessful.
They would have been contracted by the National Hockey League as a result of their lack of financial resources and low attendance figures, had they not been sold and relocated to Denver, Colorado.

Why Kansas City Scouts might not be annoying:

They took their nickname after the city's famed Scout statue.
They were initially created with the intention of developing a natural rival for the St. Louis Blues.
Their brief tenure, along with their lack of success never gave hockey's version of the I-70 rivalry to develop.
They, along with the Washington Capitals, hold the distinction of being the first NHL teams to play exhibition games in Japan (1974).
Their downfall was also credited to an economic downturn in the Midwest during the 1970's
Their logo and merchandise saw a second wave of popularity in the 2000's, as a result of the NHL's Vintage Line.
