Why he might be annoying
Although trained as an electrical engineer in Haiti, he worked as a security guard while living in Brooklyn.
Johnny Cochran was his lawyer.
Cops arrested him as he broke up a girlfight in front of a nightclub.
After news of the attack, he aligned himself with Reverend Al Sharpton.
Why he might not be annoying
After being transported to the station house, Justin Volpe stuck a plunger into Louima's rectum, damaging his colon and bladder.
The plunger was then forced into his mouth, breaking several teeth.
For his role in the attack, Volpe was sentenced to 30 years in prison without parole (December 13, 1999).
Louima received an $8.75 million settlement, some of which he used to build a hospital in his Haitian hometown.
He continued to advocate for other victims of police brutality.
