The Resume

    (November 27, 1964-August 9, 2012)
Resided in New York City, NY
    Wrote 'Fraud (2002)'
Wrote for 'Salon,' 'Outside Magazine,' 'The New York Times Magazine,' 'GQ' and 'Esquire'
Frequent contributor to 'This American Life' on public radio

Why he might be annoying:

    He was effeminate and prissy.
He started balding at an early age.
    He was lazy.
    He hated the outdoors.
He was not as well known as other 'This American Life' personalities like David Sedaris, Sarah Vowell and Ira Glass.
His name rhymed with 'jack off' and 'whack off.'

Why he might not be annoying:

    His writing was very understandable.
His essays were witty, yet sad.
Some critics felt his work had more depth than Sedaris' or Vowell's.
He survived Hodgkin's disease (a form of cancer).
The cancer made him sterile (OK, so he was gay, but it still can't be fun).
