Astronaut

The Resume

    (May 10, 1963- )
    Born in Washington, D.C.
    Birth name is Lisa Caputo
Received commission from the Navy (1985)
Degree in aerospace engineering from the U.S. Naval Academy (1985) and aeronautical and astronautical engineering from the U.S. Naval Postgraduate School (Monterey, California, 1992)
Became a naval flight officer (1987)
Member of the 1996 NASA group
Arrested at Orlando International Airport for first-degree murder attempt on Air Force Captain Colleen Shipman, a romantic rival (February 5, 2007)

Why she might be annoying:

She is a fan of crossword puzzles.
During her 1000-mile (1609 km) trip from Texas to Florida, she wore an adult diaper. This permitted her to drive almost continuously to find Shipman.
In her bag and car, police uncovered, among other things: pepper spray, a steel mallet, latex gloves, a wig, and some $600 US.
She wore a trench coat when she confronted Shipman, claiming she needed to use a cell phone.
When asked if pepper spray would help her discussion with Shipman, she replied, 'That was stupid.'
Ironically, she was due for another flight assignment when she was arrested.

Why she might not be annoying:

She became interested in human space flight at age five.
She was intrigued by the careers of female astronauts while growing up.
During her first mission (STS-121, July 1996), she was a flight engineer who went on to operate the shuttle's robotic arm.
The day after her arrest, NASA placed her on a month's leave and revoked her flight status.
Originally she was to be released on $12,500 bail, but Orlando police chose to bring forth new charges and thus delayed her release.
Following a $25,500 bond, the court ordered her to keep on her ankle a global positioning system (GPS) with a built-in cellular.
She was also warned to not travel eastward of Orlando, especially where Shipman worked.
