The Resume

    (March 19, 1944- )
Born in Long Branch, New Jersey
Keyboardist for the Grateful Dead (1968-70) and Jefferson Starship (2009)
Recorded the solo albums 'Fresh Tracks in Real Time' (1989), 'OutSides' (1990), 'Sonatas by Beethoven, Schubert and Haydn' (1991), 'Nightfall of Diamonds' (1992), 'Morning Dew' (1993) and 'Grateful Dreams' (2000)

Why he might be annoying:

When he left the Air Force, he programmed a computer so a month later it would print out an extended middle finger followed by USAF.
    He was a Scientologist.
Except for fellow keyboardist Pigpen McKernan, he did not get along well with the rest of the Dead.

Why he might not be annoying:

He taught at the San Francisco Art Institute and was an artist-in-residence at Harvard University.
One of the reasons he did not fit in with the rest of the Dead was that he refused to take LSD.
Considering the fates of the other Grateful Dead keyboardists (one death by alcohol, one by drug overdose, one by car crash and one suicide), getting out fast before the curse on the position could take hold proved to be a good decision.
