He ran his own mail order art school.
When he was young, he used to skip school to draw comics and visit publishers.
He refused to reveal his real last name. (Kubert is not Polish).

Why he might not be annoying:

His family moved to the United States when he was an infant, and he was raised in Brooklyn.
When he was 11 years old, he was making five dollars a day as a cartoonist.
He was inducted into two separate cartoonists' Halls of Fame, the Jack Kirby in 1997 and the Will Eisner in 1998.
