Why he might be annoying:

    His nicknames were Specs and The Cricket.
    He made only one All-Star selection in his playing career.
    He was with the Giants as the manager when they moved from New York to San Francisco.
    He was ejected 52 times in his managing career.
    He was fired as the manager of the Angels after the team posted a ten game losing streak (May 27, 1969).
    After he returned to the San Francisco Giants as manager for a second stint in his career, the team ended up in 4th place and lost 88 games.

    He was a member of the U.S. Coast Guard during World War II.
    He was the first manager in Angels history.
    Leo Durocher taught him about the hit-and-run concept.
    He managed the Giants to a winning record of 80-74 in their first season in San Francisco.
    He managed the Twins to win the 1970 AL West Division title.
    Before the 1969 season ended, he worked with the Giants' radio broadcast commentary team.
    He also used to work as a broadcaster for the Oakland Athletics during the 1980s.
