Mayor

The Resume

    (March 20, 1906-February 10, 2001)
    Born in London, United Kingdom
    Birth name was Abraham Birnbaum
Mayor of New York City (1973-77)
    Democrat

Why he might be annoying:

He presided over New York City when it nearly went bankrupt.
The financial crisis coupled with his past career as an accountant led to him being mocked as ‘the bean counter who couldn’t count.’
He threatened to cut off police and fire protection in the districts of Republican state senators.
He seemed bland, especially compared to his predecessor and successor as mayor.
As Mad magazine noticed, he looked an awful lot like Vice-Principal Woodman from Welcome Back, Kotter.’

Why he might not be annoying:

While attending high school, he also worked eight hours a day in a factory.
He was married to Mary Ingerman for 67 years.
He was the first practicing Jew to be mayor of New York City.
His supporters argued that the fiscal crisis was the result of decades of overspending by his predecessors.
    He ran a scandal-free administration.
