    Won the Hugo Award in 1959 and the Nebula Award in 1966
    Taught at Wayne State University and Ohio University
    Novels include 'Unveiling Claudia,' 'The Touch' and 'Fifth Sally'

Why he might be annoying:

    He expanded his short story 'Flowers for Algernon' to novel length, adding little to the story.
    He averaged about a novel a decade during his career.
    Nothing he did after even come close to the success of 'Flowers for Algernon.'
    He won the 1959 Hugo for the short story version of 'Flowers for Algernon' and the 1966 Nebula for the novel length version.

Why he might not be annoying:

    He started out writing and editing under comic book legend Stan Lee.
    'Flowers for Algernon' is one of the greatest and most popular science fiction short stories of all time.
    Cliff Robertson won a Best Actor Oscar for his lead role in the movie version (retitled 'Charly') of 'Flowers for Algernon.'
    With his collegiate teaching career, he showed that some people can do and teach.
    In his true crime novel 'Unveiling Claudia' he solved an actual crime.
    He had a difficult time getting the short story, the novel length version, and the movie of 'Flowers for Algernon' out because the publishers/producers all wanted him to change it to have a happy ending. Fortunately he stuck to his guns and had a load of money and awards to show he was right.
