Why he might be annoying
He was a telemarketer before forming the Black Keys.
He said, ‘I can’t sing at all, I can’t hum melodies, and I can’t write riffs.’
He plays drums hunched over awkwardly and notes, ‘I get really bad hand cramps and sometimes my sternum gets fucked up.’
He has to remove his oversized glasses while playing so they don’t fly off.
He was married and divorced twice before marrying Branch.
Asked if Justin Bieber should have felt snubbed at not being nominated for a Grammy, he replied, ‘Grammys are for music, not for the money, and he’s making a lot of money. He should be happy.’
He later described his remarks as ‘a compliment’ that Bieber ‘didn’t understand.’
Why he might not be annoying
He wrote the title theme for the TV show ‘Bojack Horseman’ with his uncle, saxophonist Ralph Carney.
He is the more colorful half of Black Keys in interviews.
He said, ‘Rock and roll is dying because people became OK with Nickelback being the biggest band in the world. So they became OK with the idea that the biggest rock band in the world is always going to be shit – therefore you should never try to be the biggest rock band in the world. Fuck that!’
He responded to a flood of outraged tweets from incensed Beliebers mostly with deadpan humor.
