It ripped off 'Thirtysomething!'
'Slate' television critic wrote, 'The show is almost good, or at least exactly the sort of emotional drama networks should be trying to make these days. But it is so sure it is special, so convinced it has something to say that it sullies its basic achievements with self-satisfaction. '
It sometimes over-exaggerated trivial problems of the characters and came off as too dramatic.
Even though Milo Ventimiglia and Ron Cephas-Jones's characters die, they remain credited cast members due to their characters being shown repeatedly in flashbacks.
The Pearsons are die hard Pittsburgh Steelers fans.
Why This is Us might not be annoying
The show's creator, Dan Fogelman, worked with one of its stars, Mandy Moore, when he was a scriptwriter for the 2010 Disney animated film 'Tangled.'
It cast a few famous faces.
Alan Thicke's guest appearance on a season one episode marked one of his final on-screen appearances.
San Francisco Chronicle television critic David Wiegand wrote, 'The performances are nicely detailed and fully credible, contributing to the level of credibility necessary to keep the conceit of the show from seeming gimmicky.'
It has garnered critical acclaim including Primetime Emmys throughout its run.
