    Formed the Rock and Roll Trio with his brother Johnny and guitarist Paul Burlison
    With the Rock and Roll Trio recorded the singles ‘Train Kept a-Rollin’’ (1956) and ‘Lonesome Train’ (1956)
    Solo recorded the singles ‘(There Was A) Tall Oak Tree’ (1960), ‘Hey Little One’ (1960), ‘In the Spring (The Roses Always Turn Red)’ (1972), ‘Darlin’ (Don’t Come Back)’ (1973), ‘Molly (I Ain’t Getting Any Younger)’ (1975), and ‘Things I Treasure’ (1977)

Why he might be annoying:

    The Rock and Roll Trio auditioned for Sam Philips’s Sun Records and were turned down.
    He quit the Rock and Roll Trio a week before they were to appear in the Alan Freed film ‘Rock, Rock, Rock.’ (1956)
    The Academy of Country Music named him ‘Most Promising Newcomer’ of 1973, a good decade and a half after the start of his career.
    He composed the score for the William Shatner vs. tarantulas flick ‘Kingdom of the Spiders.’ (1977)

Why he might not be annoying:

    He was a Golden Gloves champion boxer in high school.
    The Rock and Roll Trio won three episodes in a row on The Original Amateur Hour (1955).
    ’Train Kept a-Rollin’’ was included on the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame’s list ‘500 Songs That Shaped Rock and Roll.’
    He wrote three hits for Ricky Nelson, ‘It’s Late,’ ‘Believe What You Say,’ and ‘Waiting in School’ (the last two written with his brother Johnny).
    He performed at a benefit concert for the Arthritis Foundation the day before he died.
    Delaney Bramlett organized a benefit concert for his widow that featured performances by Kris Kristofferson, Glen Campbell, Roger Miller, Tanya Tucker, and Duane Eddy.
