Basketball Coach

The Resume

    (March 8, 1960- )
    Born in Boston, Massachusetts
Head coach of men's basketball at the University of Southern Indiana (1992 - 2001), the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee (2001 - 2005) and the University of Tennessee (2005 - 2011)
Coached the University of Southern Indiana to the NCAA Championship in Division II Men's Basketball (1995)
Won the honors of Horizon League Coach of the Year (2003, 2004, 2005), SEC Coach of the Year (2006, 2008) and the Adolph Rupp National Coach of the Year (2008)
Coached the US' Men's Basketball team to a gold medal at the 2009 Maccabiah Games
As of 2011, holds a career coaching record of 442-129

Why he might be annoying:

He is known for his animated, loud on-court actions.
In 2010 he admitted to making recruiting contacts that he wasn't allowed to make, as well as lying to the NCAA about this matter.
This resulted in him being suspended from Tennessee's first eight SEC games in the 2010-2011 season and played a major role in his firing at the end of that season.
The fact that in March 2011, a Tennessee player faced a substance abuse violation even though he was listed by the team as having a bad back also didn't help his case.
While as an assistant at the University of Iowa, in the late 1980's, he called a prospective student who agreed to go to Illinois. The student then supposedly lied about taking illegal bribes from Illinois. Even though Illinois was eventually punished through other violations uncovered during the investigation, it severely tarnished his reputation among other coaches.
In 2007 he divorced his wife of 25 years.

Why he might not be annoying:

During his tenure at Tennessee, the Volunteers had their most successful run, reaching the Elite Eight of the NCAA tournament for the first time in 2010, as well as achieving a number one ranking in the polls during the 2007-2008 season, also a first for the program.
In 2005 he became the second-fastest coach in NCAA history to reach 300 wins after Roy Williams.
At a lady Vols' game in 2007, he appeared shirtless in the crowd with other men's players as a way to support that team, as well as women's college sports in general.
In 2008 he was inducted into the National Jewish Sports Hall of Fame.
He says that every single time he visits Europe, he visits a concentration camp to help give perspective to the horrors of the Holocaust.
