    Birth name was Samuel Maghett
    Blues guitarist and singer

Why he might be annoying:

His birthplace is now submerged beneath a flood control reservoir.
He was jailed six months for desertion and given a dishonorable discharge after going AWOL from the Army (1959).
He originally called himself 'Good Rocking Sam' before discovering another performer was already using that name.

Why he might not be annoying:

He had a tremolo-rich picking style, about which producer Willie Dixon said, 'Magic Sam had a different guitar sound. Most of the guys were playing the straight 12-bar blues thing, but the harmonies that he carried with the chords was a different thing altogether.'
He gave a breakthrough performance at the Ann Arbor Blues Festival (August, 1969).
In the wake of the Festival, he was booked to tour Europe and was offered a contract with Stax Records, but he suffered a fatal heart attack before he could take advantage of the offers.
In the film 'The Blues Brothers,' Jake dedicates their performance of 'Sweet Home Chicago' to 'the late, great Magic Sam.'
