The Resume

    (March 15, 1845-June 25, 1876)
    Born in New Rumley, Ohio
Younger brother of George Armstrong Custer
Received two Medals of Honor for capturing Confederate regimental flags during the battles of Namozine Church (April 3, 1865) and Sailor’s Creek (April 6, 1865)
Fought during the Indian Wars in the Washita campaign (1868), Yellowstone Expedition (1873), Black Hills Expedition (1874) and Little Bighorn campaign (1876)
Killed along with his brother in the Battle of Little Bighorn

Why he might be annoying:

After being shot in the face at Sailor’s Creek, he ignored orders from his brother to report to the surgeon, so George ordered him arrested and marched to the rear under guard.
After the Battle of Little Bighorn, his body was identified by a tattoo on his arm of his initials.
He wins two Medals of Honor; his brother gets himself and all his men massacred in an ill-advised attack; his brother becomes the legendary historical figure. More proof life just ain’t fair.

Why he might not be annoying:

He joined the Union Army as a private at age 16, and by age 20 had been breveted to lieutenant colonel.
At Namozine Church, in addition to capturing a regimental flag, he single-handedly took three officers and eleven enlisted men as prisoners.
At Sailor’s Creek, he handed the regimental flag to his brother with the declaration, ‘Armstrong, the damned rebels shot me, but I’ve got my flag.’
He was the first soldier (and one of only 19 in history) to be awarded two Medals of Honor.
