Why he might be annoying:

He frequently cut school to practice golf shots on a local beach.
He was known for his erratic drives, commenting 'I don't aim for the rough, it just goes there.'
He was voted off the Ryder Cup team for playing in America too much (1981).
His marriage reportedly broke up over his inability to accept that his golf career was on the wane (2004).
He had a tattoo on his forearm of himself after his 1984 British Open victory.

Why he might not be annoying:

He could hold eleven golf balls in each hand and could balance three golf balls on top of each other.
He had a great short game and said, 'It doesn't matter where you hit the drive if you make the putt.'
At the 1979 British Open, he famously birdied the 16th hole after his tee shot landed in a parking lot.
He was a favorite of TV cameras during tournaments, with US Golf Association director Frank Hannegan saying, 'He is more fun to watch than any player in the world.'
He was the namesake for the Seve Trophy, a Ryder Cup-style tournament pitting a team from the British Isles against one from continental Europe.
Ben Crenshaw said, 'I think he comes as close to a complete player as anybody I've ever seen. He can hit every shot in the bag and do it with the style and looks of a champion.'
