His first guitar hero was Tito Jackson.
He has described his musical approach as ‘schizophrenic.’

Why he might not be annoying:

He performed at the Red, White, and Blues celebration at the White House (2012).
After his performance at the Crossroads Guitar Festival (2010), Eric Clapton wrote him a letter saying, ‘Thank you – you make me want to play again.’
He said about his reputation as ‘the future of the blues,’ ‘I don’t really follow along with the hype, y’know? I put enough pressure on myself to be the best that I can be.’
His song ‘This Land’ was inspired by a neighbor’s refusal to believe he was really the owner of the 50-acre ranch he bought outside of Austin.
