U.S. Congressman

The Resume

Why she might be annoying:

She landed her first legislative seat when she was appointed to the Washington House to replace Richard Curtis, who had resigned in a sex scandal (2007).
After a contentious town hall meeting where attendees protested her votes to cut funding for family planning services and National Public Radio (2011), she cut back on traditional town halls, advertised well in advance, in favor of ‘community coffees’ held on short notice.
She professes to oppose Obamacare, but voted against the Republican effort to repeal it (2017).

Why she might not be annoying:

She was the first Hispanic elected to Congress from Washington state.
She was named to Time magazine’s ’40 Under 40’ list (2010).
Her husband, Daniel Buetler, is a stay-at-home father.
When her unborn daughter, Abigail, was diagnosed with Potter’s Syndrome, she underwent an experiment procedure by having saline solution injected into her uterus (2013).
Abigail was born three months premature without kidneys, but received a transplant from Daniel when she was two years old.
During the impeachment debate, she said, ‘I’m not choosing a side, I’m choosing truth. It’s the only way to defeat fear.’
