Perhaps not surprisingly, her weight (at 180 pounds) made her a frequent victim of childhood bullying.
She was a Gong Show co-host for several episodes.
Like a number of athletes, she tried the rockstar route (‘(I Eat) Raw Meat,’ which did get some surprising airplay on the local Los Angeles station).
Not until years after the end of G.L.O.W. did she realize that producers had named her Matilda for a character in the obscure Death Race 2000 (a 1975 futurist film].
She credits herself with the very first worldwide telephone sex business.
She regards Wendi Richter and the Fabulous Moolah as inspirations.
As she grew older – by which point she’d had a child – she became more popular with the men.
Having described G.L.O.W. working conditions as if they were a slaughterhouse, she was a central figure in advocating for protective gear in the ring and proper compensation for female wrestlers.
She worked her wrestling schtick into a job as a telegram girl.
She suffered degenerative disc disease, which numbed her feet and caused her to lose some toes (bye-bye, Slam-A-Grams!).
You may have seen her in a clip for Aerosmith (‘Love in an Elevator’).
