    Many of her early short stories were rejected by publishers for years.
    She was criticized in India for not portraying Indians in a more positive way.
    She won the Pulitzer Prize for Fiction.
    Her books are well-received.
    She never gave up becoming a succesful writer, despite repeated rejections.
