The Resume

    (March 23, 1874-July 25, 1951)
    Born in Montabaur, Germany
Birth name was Joseph Christian Leyendecker
    Illustrator
Produced 322 covers for the 'Saturday Evening Post'
Created the Arrow Collar Man (1905)

Why he might be annoying:

He was a perfectionist who reacted to a minor imperfection in one painting by putting his foot through the canvas.
He began an affair with Charles Beach, his favorite model (and later his manager), when Beach was 15.
During the Depression, he became increasingly reclusive, rarely talking to anyone besides Beach or his sister Mary.
After his death, Beach and Mary destroyed most of his personal papers and sold off many of his works at bargain basement prices.

Why he might not be annoying:

His Saturday Evening Post covers popularized the New Year's baby.
He drew military recruiting posters during WWI and ads for war bonds during WWII.
He and Beach were together 49 years until his death.
His style was a major influence on Norman Rockwell, who declared, 'Leyendecker was my god.'
