The Resume

    (September 12, 1938-February 9, 2015)
    Born in Sherbrooke, Quebec, Canada
    Died in Longueil, Quebec, Canada
Head coach for the Montreal Canadiens (1968-71, 1979-81)

Why he might be annoying:

Some hockey pundits felt his success in his rookie head coaching season was a result of having a superstar caliber team assembled for him.
He stepped down midway through the 1970-71 season when the team was in a slump.
He cited his reason for initially stepping down was due to being unable to balance the job with his personal life.
His teams failed to get past the second round in the years following the Stanley Cup victory.
His Canadiens team missed the playoffs on the last day of the 1969-70 season, marking the first time in NHL history that no Canadian teams appeared in the Stanley Cup playoffs.

Why he might not be annoying:

He took a puck in the eye, which rendered him legally blind.
He took over the reigns from Toe Blake, prior to the start of the 1968-69 season.
He served as the Canadiens director of player development for many years, prior to taking the head coaching reigns.
In addition to the Stanley Cup title, he guided the Canadiens to three division titles and three playoff berths.
Despite resigning midway through the 1970-71 season, the Canadiens successfully petitioned the NHL to allow his name to be engraved on the Stanley Cup.
