Why he might be annoying:

He ran for Attorney General of Maryland, but was ruled ineligible because he hadn't lived in the state for 10 years (2006).
Many liberals were upset he was selected as DNC chair over Keith Ellison.
He gets a great deal of support from labor unions, but, favored the Trans-Pacific Partnership.
He went to an all-boys Catholic high school.
Some right wingers dubbed him as a 'radical racist' due to his aggressive approach on racial equality measures (like voter ID laws and hiring practices).

Why he might not be annoying:

He became the first Latino to head up the Democratic National Committee.
He graduated Brown (undergrad) and Harvard (J.D.) Universities.
He's a champion of social justice and civil rights.
His father died when Tom was 12 years old.
He promised to be 'Trump's worst nightmare' after taking over the DNC.
