The Resume

    (June 11, 1960- )
    Born in Cleveland, Ohio
Works primarily as a cardiothoracic surgeon
Authored many books including ‘YOU: On a Diet, The Owners Manual for Waist Management;’ ‘YOU: The Smart Patient: An Insider's Handbook for Getting the Best Treatment’ and ‘Healing from the Heart: A Leading Surgeon Combines Eastern and Western Traditions to Create the Medicine of the Future’
Appeared regularly as a health expert on 'Oprah,' leading to his own talk show
Acts as Vice-Chair and Professor of Surgery at Columbia University

Why he might be annoying:

His fame comes from his multiple appearances on 'Oprah'
In his television appearances he would display and hold out human organs, sometimes getting Oprah or audience members to feel them (with gloved hands).
He advised viewers on one show to look at their poop after a bowel movement to ensure they are S-shaped.
One of his 'Oprah' show appearances graphically described a lab study where scientists took a man’s stool sample, froze it, squished it, rolled it out then baked it to examine the benefits of a high-calcium diet.
When he asked an all-male audience on 'Oprah' if any of them suffered from erectile dysfunction, no one would admit it.
His healthy eating tips include eliminating foods that many people love (like soda, ready-to-bake refrigerator biscuits and high-fat bread spreads).
He was blasted during a hearing with U.S. Senators on the Consumer Protection Committee for hawking unproven weight loss products on his show (June 18, 2014).

Why he might not be annoying:

He offers effective advice on how to stay healthy and live longer.
His wife turned him into an avid yoga fan.
He was born to Turkish Muslim parents.
Many viewers actually took his advice to look at their poop.
To the luck of 'Oprah' viewers, no health question is too embarrassing for him to answer!
