Why he might be annoying:

He went undrafted in the NFL.
He was a journeyman player.
He shares his name with an Irish film director and a baseball player.
He sported a mullet when he was younger.
He gained notoriety for the 'River City Relay.'
In that game, he missed an extra point advantage when he kicked the ball toward the goal and it sailed wide past right (December 21, 2003).
He was an offseason/practice squad member for two seasons.
He signed with the Giants the season preceding their Super Bowl XLII victory.

He lettered in football in high school and received honors for his placekicking.
He was used as a replacement player during the 1987 NFL strike.
As of 2007, he ranks fourth in the NFL all time scoring list with 1,749 points.
His most memorable play came in 2005, when his field goal helped the Saints win against the Jaguars just weeks after the team was displaced by Hurricane Katrina.
As a result, he and teammate Peyton Brooks graced the issue of 'Sports Illustrated' for their uplifting victory.
He remained friends with Brooks, teammate Drew Brees, and fellow Irish-American NFL player Ed McCaffrey.
Upon the retirement of NFL player Morten Andersen, he temporarily, held the title of the league's oldest player.
