Hockey Coach

The Resume

    (December 5, 1958- )
Born in North Battleford, Saskatchewan, Canada
Raised in Long Beach, New York
Head coach of the Phoenix Coyotes (1999-2004)
    Jack Adams Award winner (2002)

Why he might be annoying:

He was virtually unheard of in mainstream hockey circles until he was appointed the Coyotes head coach.
Some hockey pundits felt he only got the job through nepotism since his father was NHL coaching legend Emile 'The Cat' Francis.
He couldn't break the Winnipeg/Phoenix franchise's trend of good regular seasons followed by first round eliminations.
He was fired by HIFK in the Finnish league eight months after being hired by the team (2006).
He had a serious drinking problem during the end of his tenure as the Coyotes head coach.

Why he might not be annoying:

Despite being born in his father's hometown of North Battleford, SK, he spent the majority of his life in the United States as a result of his father's NHL executive career.
He guided the Coyotes to the franchise's best season since relocating to Phoenix before the lockout (2001-02).
He was the first coach for the Phoenix Coyotes to win the Jack Adams Award (2002).
He refused to base his career on his father's accolades, instead going into hockey on his own merits.
He was diagnosed with the early stages of dementia, which was a contributing factor in the loss of his balance and health problems (2012).
