Victim

The Resume

    ( -September 11, 2001)
Victim of the 9/11 terrorist attack of the World Trade Center in New York City
Chose to jump from the North Tower rather than burn to death
Famed photo taken by Richard Drew at 9:41:15 a.m. (one of 12 taken of him on his descent)
Subject of a story written by Tom Junod which appeared in the September 2003 edition of Esquire magazine
Basis for the 2006 documentary film '9/11: The Falling Man'

Why he might be annoying:

Though two men are strong candidates as the possible victim, he has never been positively identified.
When the pic ran in several newspapers, the papers received a flood of angry phone calls, stating the photo was deeply disturbing and robbed the man of his dignity.
One reporter from the Toronto Globe and Mail was so obsessed with IDing the man he went to funeral of a victim with the photo in hand.
When shown the photo, a daughter of the victim, numb from grief and anger, shouted 'That piece of shit is not my father!'
While he appears almost 'relaxed' in the pic while falling, the series of 12 photos reveals he is tumbling end over end.

Why he might not be annoying:

He went to work at the World Trade Center on that fateful day not knowing he would become part of history (and controversy).
From the jacket he was wearing it was determined he was an employee of the WTC's Windows on the World restaurant (which lost 79 of its employees and 91 of its patrons).
He was one of over 200 people that either fell or jumped to their deaths on 9/11.
After sensing America's reaction to his photo, many newspapers and TV stations vowed to never show it again.
His image has been viewed by some victim's families as a symbol for their grieving, similar to the 'Tomb of the Unknown Soldier.'
