    Named to the Hockey Hall of Fame as an 'Honoured Builder' (1945)

Why he might be annoying:

    Despite a distinguished political career, he is remembered mainly for donating the Stanley Cup.
    He never got to present the Stanley Cup, since he returned to England to succeed his late brother as Earl of Derby before the first championship match was played.
    His indicisiveness while Prime Minister John MacDonald was dying aggrivated the political crisis.

    He traveled widely through Canada, developing an appreciation for the country's natural beauty.
    British Prime Minister Arthur Balfour said he 'had a genius for inspiring affection among those who knew him.'
    He established a tradition of political neutrality for the office of Governor General.
