Why he might be annoying:

    He wore polka dot ties, which became his coaching trademark.
    His uptempo coaching style did not resonate with Arkansas fans at the beginning of his tenure.
    He was inadvertently referred to as Nolan Ryan by broadcaster Bill Raferty on national television.
    He was fired by the University of Arkansas after he publicly voiced his concerns about the school's administration and fanbase.
    He struggled to adapt to coaching in the WNBA, unaware that the women's game was a different style then the college game.

Why he might not be annoying:

    He was a member of the Texas Western University men's basketball team that started the first all African-American starting five in basketball history.
    He became the first African-American head coach in NCAA basketball history to guide a team to an NIT championship (1981).
    He is the first coach in NCAA basketball history to win championships at the Division I, NIT and Junior College levels.
    He is the first African-American to serve as a head coach for a college basketball program in the American South region.
    He brought attention to the racial discrimination he received by the fans and the Board of Governors at the University of Arkansas.
