He's been plagued by injuries throughout his career.
He named his sons Ridge, Grayson and Dawson.
He hits a lot of batters.
After lossing a game to the Baltimore Orioles, he punched the clubhouse wall with enough force to cause a double fracture to his non-pitching hand. (September 3, 2004).

Why he might not be annoying:

He was Chemical Engineering major during college.
He made his major league debut after only 6 starts in the minors.
He donates to many charitable foundations, including the Make-A-Wish Foundation.
He was the first Texas Rangers pitcher to start the season with victories in each of his first 5 starts (1990).
In his first season with the Marlins (and the NL), he finished second in Cy Young Award voting.
He became the first pitcher to throw a no hitter and a one hitter in the same season since Nolan Ryan did it in 1990 (1997).
After leading the Florida Marlins to the World Series in 1997, he led the Padres to the World Series in 1998.
His injury during the 2003 season allowed Dontrelle Willis to be named to the NL team.
When healthy, he's one of the games most dominant pitchers.
If he stays healthy for the rest of his career, he could very well win 300 games and strike out 3,000 batters.
