The Resume

Why Boston Legal might be annoying:

It is another show from David E. Kelly...
    about lawyers...
    set in Boston.
Each episode ends with James Spader and William Shatner's characters smoking cigars on a balcony.
It went through a 50% cast turnover between the first and second season.
The firm has unexplained access to a group of thugs that intimidate, assault, and even kidnap, alluding to mafia connections.
William Shatner's character of Denny Crane gets sexually aroused when other people say his name.

Why Boston Legal might not be annoying:

The firm of Crane Poole & Schmidt seems to have a rule against hiring unattractive female lawyers.
It is not afraid to take on controversial issues.
High profile guests will often play a character for 4 or 5 episodes, instead of the usual 1 or 2 on most other TV series.
The show pushes censorship boundaries, without seeming like it's trying to.
The firm's unethical and sometimes illegal activity is usually done to help someone wrongly accused of a crime, or being discriminated against.
