Religion

The Resume

    (circa 1954- )
    Born in El Cajon, California
'New Age' religion founded by Ernest and Ruth Norman
Teaches that everything is energy that can neither be created or destroyed but can change form
All persons and their souls are energy
Teaches reincarnation and that everything that happens has its causes in past lives
UNARIUS stands for UNiversal ARticulate International Understanding of Science
Also teaches that our solar system was once populated by alien civilizations
They have published over 100 books since their founding including; 'The Truth About Mars,' 'The Voice of Venus,' 'The Infinite Concept of Cosmic Creation,' and 'Bridge to Heaven'

Why Unarius Academy of Science might be annoying:

Their teachings are for the most part an unremarkable and unoriginal mishmash of 'New Age' ideas that can be found in any number of cults and science fiction novels.
They teach the Chinese and other Asian peoples are from Mars.
They've lost a lot of members for repeatedly incorrectly predicting UFO landings on Earth.
They started out as a 'New Age' self-help group, but after founder Ernest Norman's death, devolved into another bunch of UFO groupies.
    They believe in reincarnation.

Why Unarius Academy of Science might not be annoying:

They are probably the first and only religion to make the 'First Law of Thermodynamics' part of their scriptures.
Unlike many religions, including many Christian denominations, they do not see a conflict between faith and reason.
Their interest in things scientific, especially astronomy, physics, and engineering, set them apart from much of the 'New Age' movement and similar cults.
Due to their emphasis on scientific learning, their members are usually intelligent and educated, often very well-educated.
They don't require members to engage in the more annoying aspects of the 'New Age' such as; vegetarianism, living in communes, engaging in goofy rituals or giving them all your money.
