    Lead anchor for TSN's flagship program Sports Desk (1984-2001)
    Anchor for Rogers Sportsnet's flagship show Sportsnet Central (2003-06)

Why he might be annoying:

    He adopted the pseudonym Jim Van Horne while working at a radio station in Midland, Ontario, after the station felt his real name wasn't 'hard rock enough.'
    He did commercials for McDonald's in the mid-1990's to help promote the NHL Muppet Mania gimmick.
    People who were unaware his on-air name was actually a pseudonym, wrongfully assumed he was related to longtime Montreal Expos broadcaster Dave Van Horne.
    He frequently used corny puns on the air.
    He was let go from Sportsnet in a cost-cutting move, which essentially ended his on-air broadcasting career.

Why he might not be annoying:

    He was a radio disc jockey, prior to making the switch to television.
    He was the first Canadian to earn the Billboard Magazine Disc Jockey of the Year Award (1972).
    He was one of the first employees hired by TSN.
    He was considered an iconic figure in Canadian sports broadcasting during the 1990's.
    In addition to his work as an anchor, he also provided TSN with play-by-play coverage for five Olympic games, along with numerous sporting events ranging from amateur athletics, all the way to the professional level.
