Why T.J. Hooker might be annoying
The name is absurd.
They hired Bob Grogran, an actual detective, as a technical advisor, but then fired him when he told them how inaccurate the show was.
Real cops and detectives criticized it for completely ignoring standard police protocol.
There were numerous instances when T.J. Hooker would be hanging from the roof of a car during a high speed chase.
Hooker's crappy police car could always outrun even the fastest cars.
The opening sequence features an overweight William Shatner running slowly and Heather Locklear taking down a criminal by throwing a baton at the back of his knees.
T.J. Hooker was apparently immune to bullets.
Adrian Zmed was supposed to be playing a Vietnam vet even though he would have been a child during the Vietnam War.
They repeated plots from earlier in the shows run.
The plots were extremely predictable.
Why T.J. Hooker might not be annoying
It drew respectable ratings.
Leonard Nimoy guest starred on the series to rake in the 'Star Trek' nerds.
It obviously was not trying to be like 'Hill Street Blues.'
It could be unintentionally funny.
Several episodes revolved around Heather Locklear dressing like a prostitute to nab the bad guys.
It made sure the audience knew all the criminals were 'punks.'
