    Born in Bloomington, Minnesota
    Drafted 17th overall by the New Jersey Devils in the 2003 NHL Entry Draft
    Forward for the New Jersey Devils (2005-12) and the Minnesota Wild

Why he might be annoying:

    He is undersized for a forward.
    Despite playing college hockey for four seasons, he did not receive exposure until the World Juniors.
    He receives little media exposure playing in New Jersey.
    Like many of his peers, he enjoys playing golf during the off-season.
    He is considered a pretty boy.

Why he might not be annoying:

    He is a second generation player as his father, Jean-Paul Parise, played for the Minnesota North Stars during the late 1960's and early 1970's.
    He guided the United States to their first IIHF World Junior Hockey Championship (2004).
    He was highly sought after by Devils GM Lou Lamoriello, who traded up to draft him.
    He earned NHL Second All-Star team honors (2009).
    He was widely considered the successor to Martin Brodeur as the Devils franchise player.
