Why he might be annoying:

During his performance at the Beverly Hills Supper Club in Southgate, Kentucky a fire broke out. The busboy grabbed the mike and announced the fire, many spectators thought he was part of the act and after finally realizing it was no joke, made a dash to the exits. Unfortunately they encounter locked doors and 165 died (May 28, 1977).
A number of stunts went wrong on his show 'That's Incredible!' that it was awarded 'Most Sadistic Show' by Time magazine (1980). TV Guide also uncovered that some stories and stunts were fake or rigged (1982).
One would be hard pressed to name a song he recorded.

He is the son of a minister.
He made his Broadway debut in the 1964 production of 'Foxy.'
He still works the casinos/supper clubs/cruise ships circuit.
