Baseball Player

The Resume

Why he might be annoying:

He admitted to not pursuing a professional baseball career was due to his inability to hit a curve ball.
His hiring initially made baseball pundits assume the Cardinals were throwing in the towel on their 2018 season.
He looks rather nerdy to be considered a baseball manager.
He got his start in working for baseball teams through nepotism, as his mother worked as an administrative assistant for the minor league Charlotte Orioles.
He broke off an engagement to pursue his baseball career full-time.

Why he might not be annoying:

He started managing in the high school ranks, where he guided a Charlotte area high school to its first winning season in 20 years.
He initially established himself in the Cardinals organization as a scout, before working as a manager in the team's minor league ranks.
He guided the Cardinals to a 41-28 record, earning the managerial job on a permanent basis.
He led the Cardinals to the National League Central Division title on the last day of the regular season in his first full season at the helm (2019).
His laid back managerial style made him popular amongst his players.
