Inducted in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame (2008) as a sideman for his work with Muddy Waters

He ran away from home at 12 to play in the clubs.
He was an alcoholic with a vicious temper.
Towards the end of the life, he would rant while waving a pistol around, both on and off stage.
Commenting on his drinking and drug use, Muddy Waters said, 'Little Walter was dead ten years before he died.'

He was one of the first blues musicians to amplify his harmonica.
He revolutionized blues harmonica the way Jimi Hendrix revolutionized rock guitar.
'Juke' was named one of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame's '500 Songs That Shaped Rock and Roll.'
After the success of 'Juke,' he became the first Chicago blues musician to play New York's legendary Apollo Theater (1952).
He died from head injuries inflicted in a street fight.
