Why Sears Holdings Corporation might be annoying:

Like Montgomery Ward, Sears, Roebuck and Co. started out as a mail order catalog company in 1886, and they did not open a retail store for almost four decades.
Richard W. Sears's business partner, Alvah Roebuck, could not handle the pressures of running Sears, Roebuck and Co., so he sold his share of the company to Richard W. Sears.
Yet Roebuck returned after the Great Depression hit America.
The name Roebuck was not dropped from the company until 1970, despite Roebuck's death in 1948.
John Walsh 's son Adam was killed outside a Sears store in Hollywood, Florida (1981).
The company introduced the Discover credit card in 1985.
Kmart's predecessor, S.S. Krege Corp, was directly hit by the Great Depression.
Both Sears and Kmart's business prospects dwindled in the 1980's because of increased competition and aging stores.
Kmart Holdings Corporation filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy in 2002.
Despite Kmart being the sole buyer of Sears, the company formed by the merger was renamed Sears Holdings Corporation.
Despite this, the company's revenues continued to decline, resulting in many layoffs and store closures in early 2012.
Rosie O'Donnell was Kmart's spokesperson in the late 1990's.
The company was cited for their numerous employees abuses and lousy enivronmental violations.

Why Sears Holdings Corporation might not be annoying:

Within the first seven years of Sears, Roebuck and Co., annual sales went from $300,000 to $10.6 million.
Sears also developed many ventures such as Coldwell Banker and Allstate insurance.
Kmart had celebrity brands from Martha Stewart and Kathy Ireland.
Not to be outdone, Sears had celebrity brands from Cheryl Tiegs and Arnold Palmer.
The company is an ardent supporter of March of Dimes, St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, and American Diabetes Association.
Both stores have been referenced or have been a plot element in many television shows and films.
