The Resume

    (circa 1959- )
    Born in Kermit, Texas
Consultant to the presidential campaigns of John McCain (2000,2008), Jon Huntsman (2012) and John Kasich (2016)
Founding member of the Lincoln Project (2019), a super PAC opposed to the re-election of President Donald Trump

Why he might be annoying:

He said about the goals of the Kasich campaign, ‘We want to do well enough to keep Jeb [Bush] from doing well. If we knock him out of the race, it’s a victory.’
Considering his later opposition to the guy who won the nomination, he might have regretted his choice of rival candidate to target.
He signed a $350,000 contract with a Russian nuclear energy corporation to lobby the US government to ease sanctions, then backed out when news of the deal became public (2019).
He left the Lincoln Project following reports that he sent unsolicited sexual text messages to as many as thirty men between the ages of 19 and 28 (January, 2021).
He offered to help some of the men find jobs in return for sexual favors.
He decided to come out of the closet in the wake of the scandal: ‘The truth is that I'm gay and that I have a wife and two kids who I love. My inability to reconcile those two truths has led to this agonizing place.’
So, one of the more prominent people trying to bring down Trump was, if not exactly a pedophile, guilty of sexual misconduct with much younger men. You just know the QAnon conspiracy theorists are going to seize on this as evidence that they were right.

Why he might not be annoying:

He was an architect of the Straight Talk Express that turned McCain’s bluntness into a political asset.
    He survived leukemia (2002).
His sexting apparently led to only one physical encounter, and it was consensual according to the participant.
He issued an apology in which he took ‘full responsibility’ for his inappropriate texts.
