Plot outline: A widowed mother and her kids form a pop band and tour in their techni-colored bus for some wacky, groovy adventures
Basis for the short lived cartoon 'The Partridge Family, 2200 A.D.' (1974-75)
Recorded 'I Think I Love You,' 'Come on Get Happy,' 'I Woke Up in Love This Morning,' 'Baby I Love, Love, I Love You,' 'I Can Feel Your Heartbeat,' 'Echo Valley 2-6809,' 'I'll Meet You Halfway,' 'Doesn't Somebody Want to Be Wanted,' 'Looking Through the Eyes of Love' and 'It's One of Those Nights (Yes Love)'

Why The Partridge Family might be annoying:

    Two words: 'Bubble' and 'Gum.'
Look at the bus for more than 10 seconds and risk getting a migraine.
The first Chris went 'poof' after season 1 and was replaced by a kid who did NOT EVEN CLOSELY RESEMBLED him.
The dog (Simone) went 'poof' after season 1 and wasn't replaced at all (kinda like Tiger in 'The Brady Bunch').
The name of Shirley's dead husband (and assumed father of the kids) was never mentioned.
The show was based on real life pop family The Cowsills, who were supposed to star in the show, but balked when the producers insisted on replacing Mama Cowsill with Jones.
The actors who played Laurie, Danny, Chris & Tracy were given a chance to sing and play in the show. As Jones mildly put it, 'They sounded like shit' and were quickly replaced by their regular session musicians.
Merchandising (games, magazines, paper dolls, coloring books, pillow cases, toy guitars, dolls, lunch boxes, beach towels, and a line of children's clothing) generated around $500 million in licensing revenue for the studio. The series stars saw none of it.
Cassidy wrote his memoir 'C'mon, Get Happy...Fear and Loathing on the Partridge Family Bus' detailing the his alcohol and drug abuse, groupie sex, his depression and bitterness over the money others made from his image (1994).
Danny Partridge was ranked #6 in TV Guide's list of 'TV's 10 Biggest Brats' (March 27, 2005).

Why The Partridge Family might not be annoying:

Jones is Cassidy's stepmom in real life, but it never got in the way of the show's run.
Originally only Jones was slated to sing on the show, but producers heard demo tapes of Cassidy and decided to let him sing as well.
Johnny Cash appeared in the first episode (and newcomer Farrah Fawcett in the second).
'I Think I Love You' sold more than 4 million units and was #1 on Billboard charts for 3 weeks (November 21-December 11, 1970).
At the height of the show's popularity, heartthrob Cassidy received 30,000 fan letters per week.
Feeling stifled by his Keith role, Cassidy sang weekend concerts with a harder edge and was wildly accepted. This is when he knew he wanted off the show.
He was to be replaced by Rick Springfield, but all associated with the show realized - no Cassidy, no show, and the plug was pulled.
Despite their critics, they have sold over over 25 million records.
A VH-1 sponsored 'reality' show 'In Search of the Partridge Family' aired for 1 month (September-October 2004) to find a cast for 'The New Partridge Family.' It was campy, didn't take itself seriously, and lined up Jones, Cassidy and Bonaduce to be judges. Thankfully, 'The New Partridge Family' aired once (January 22, 2005) and died a quick death.
