Why he might be annoying:

He didn't like fighting and was an outspoken advocate of banning it from the game when he played.
In his final year, he botched his 50 goal season by missing 17 games.
He suffers from chronic back pain.
N.Y Rangers fans hated his guts.
Most NHL scouts passed on him because they thought he was a timid player.
In 1982, he finished with 147 points, second to Wayne Gretzky's 212.
He was a spokesperson for Humpty Dumpty potato chips.

Why he might not be annoying:

He is the only player in NHL history to score 50 or more goals in nine straight seasons.
In 1981, he was the second player to score 50 goals in 50 games.
At the time, his 147 point season was fourth highest in NHL history.
He accumulated a mere 210 minutes in penalties during his 10-year career.
He feels the Islanders didn't get the credit they deserved as far as being one of the all time greatest teams.
His career would have been a lot different had he played with the Leafs or Rangers since both clubs passed him over twice.
He married his childhood sweetheart.
