    He declined a chance to be in the 1912 Summer Olympics in order to start his major league playing career.
    Despite hitting a grand slam during an extra inning in a game against the Cubs (his old team), the Phillies lost the game 7-6 (July 18, 1925).
    The 'Williams Shift' was first used by managers against him.
    The Cubs traded him for Dode Paskert.
    He was the NL leader for being struck out 78 times in the 1917 season.
    He was the NL leader for getting hit by 9 pitches (1927).
